Monthly Meetings and Events 2012

Apart from the Christmas party in December, the talks all start at 2pm. The October and December talks have been moved, but the others are held at Peopleton Village Hall, WR10 2EG. Entrance is free to Worcestershire Group members. Visitors are very welcome to attend and pay £3 for the Joe Sharman talk on 14 April, or £2 for any of the others. Visitors will be expected to join the Group if they attend regularly.

Competition: Bring a small bag of your own compost. Who makes good compost?
Rodney Weston
Rodney is a Garden Organic Master Composter and owner of eight compost bins and three wormeries. He is active in the National Society of Allotments and Leisure Gardens.
Sat 11 Feb Talk: Down the Garden Path Adrian James
Adrian James is a Worcestershire-based garden photographer. His garden and plant images are used in magazines and advertising and he gives talks to groups on a range of garden and travel subjects.

Bring your own variegated plant for display and Joe will explain the reason for the variegation.

Joe has worked in nurseries here and abroad and writes articles for local and national magazines. He produced the original ‘pink sheet’ for NCCPG.

Leila has a degree in Horticulture from Pershore College. She has owned Wallsend Nursery since 2002 and has been an exhibitor at RHS events since 2004.

John is a former lecturer in horticulture in the Landscape and Garden Design Faculty at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University). He maintains an NGS garden, as seen on TV and in gardening magazines. He is a former HPS Newsletter Editor and Vice Chairman.

Sat 10 Nov Talk: Making the Most of your Garden’s Microclimates Nicholas Wray
Nicholas has been Curator of the University of Bristol Botanic Gardens for the past 15 years. In the period 1992-5 he was co-presenter of Gardeners’ World and in 1998 was appointed South African consultant at the Eden Project.
