Lyn Maile at Norton, Worcester
My garden is just under an acre. We have lived here since 1990; the garden was neglected and overgrown when we moved in. It was originally owned by the Estate Manager of Spetchley Park in the 1930’s. He built our house after the Second World War in the kitchen garden and orchard of his first house; there are still several mature trees planted by him in the garden. We have planted the trees in the field at the back of the house; they are under planted with daffodils and bluebells. The borders around the house contain roses, shrubs and perennials.
Thanks are due to Lyn and Christopher Maile for hosting a thoroughly enjoyable garden party in June.
Due to frequent showers and gales following torrential rain the previous day, the emphasis was less on the garden and more on the indoors.
After a similar experience at John and Vivienne’s the year before, Lyn had evolved a Plan B and was able to accommodate us in her lovely home from which we could enjoy the panoramic views in comfort. All of which made for a convivial evening feasting on a wonderful spread provided by those attending and crowned by Lyn’s poached salmon and strawberries and cream which quickly disappeared. So, thank you again, Lyn and Christopher for your warm welcome and generous hospitality.
