Please bring a plate of food to share
John and Vivienne are looking forward to welcoming everyone to their garden on Tuesday 14th June when they are kindly hosting our evening Garden Party. Those who visited their garden for a coffee morning in 2010 will notice a number of changes. For the benefit of those for whom this will be their first visit, Vivienne has prepared this brief introduction:
Half Acre garden has been developed over the last 12 years. The house was originally two workers' cottages built in the mid-1800s with the traditional orchard, for this area. Subsequent owners planted many small conifers which inevitably grew and grew! We have recently removed the last two, leaving only a Scots Pine.
There is a small front garden with most of the planting being in the rear garden. This is divided with the section nearer to the house having herbaceous borders and ponds with a joining rill. The rear section has a mixed border, raised vegetable beds, fruit trees and compost heap. The current project is the creation of a football area, securing the rear boundary and replanting where the two conifers have been removed.
There is limited parking in the village so please share cars where possible and otherwise park considerately. We can arrange limited parking near the house for those with disability.
